A new conference to advance health care outside the Perimeter Highway — mixing technology with Indigenous practices — is set to launch Friday.
Bioscience Association Manitoba and the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce have organized Indigenous Health Innovations: Weaving Tradition and Technology. Organizers expect 200 attendees, including Indigenous leaders, health experts and bioscience companies.
The goal is, in part, to reduce travel for First Nations members needing health care, BAM’s CEO said. “We know we have technology where you can even take a test in the privacy of your own home,” Andrea Ladouceur said.
The event is booked for the RBC Convention Centre; Ladouceur had expected to sell all tickets by end of day Wednesday.
