An updated weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 10:03 p.m. for strong winds until Thursday at 2 a.m. for Passaic, Hudson, Bergen, Essex and Union counties.

“The passage of a cold front tonight will allow for increasing west winds. Isolated gusts to around 45 mph will be possible at times, especially right after the frontal passage. This could produce localized travel difficulties, as well as a few downed tree limbs,” says the weather service.
