Hawaii has had a love affair with Broadway for decades, and an impressive list of Hawaii-born actors have performed there — Ed Kenney, Loretta Ables Sayre, Janel Parrish, Greg Zane, Christine Yasunaga and the late Jade Stice, to name six.

For all the love there is for Broadway here, going cross-country to see what’s playing there these days is more challenging than ever in tough economic times. So the upcoming Honolulu dates for the Broadway in Hawaii 2025-2026 touring cast production of “Chicago” are particularly welcome this holiday season.

It opens Tuesday and runs through Dec. 7 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
