EUGENE, Ore. – Local non-profits and churches are giving out Thanksgiving meals for anyone in need. While some have an annual Thanksgiving dinner, others are adding to their regular service, like Neighbors Feeding Neighbors.
At 9:30 a.m. Neighbors Feeding Neighbors will be giving out a Thanksgiving meal for those in need on Fifth and Willamette. Organizers and volunteers started preparation weeks in advance.
“We are making a traditional Thanksgiving meal,” Lisa Levsen, Board President Of Neighbors Feeding Neighbors, said. “So we will have turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, some very yummy pumpkin cookies that we just cooked, and dinner rolls with butter, pretty much the traditional meal.”
Levsen explained why the non-profit gives out meals during the holiday.
