ANN ARBOR, MI — A teacher at Pioneer High School has received a state-level Excellence in Education award for work related to developing students’ writing and critical thinking skills.
Sean Sabo, an advanced placement English and acting instructor, has taught at the Ann Arbor high school for 22 years, according to a news release . As part of the award from the Michigan Lottery, he’ll receive a $2,000 cash prize and be featured in news segments across the state.
The award also makes him eligible for the Educator of the Year award, which carries a $10,000 prize.
“Mr. Sabo’s dedication as an educator for nearly 30 years is invaluable to Pioneer High School,” Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said in a statement. “His ability to bring literature to life and teach acting by transforming
