Martin Lewis has revealed the Budget policy he was most "pleased" with after warning that other measures announced by Rachel Reeves on Wednesday would leave earners "worse off". The Chancellor hiked taxes by £26 billion in her second annual fiscal and economic statement, including by freezing income tax thresholds until 2030/31 , in a bid to fill a multi-billion-pound hole in the public finances. The Money Saving Expert founder, whose website provides free personal finance advice, accused Labour of administering a "stealth tax" though the freeze, warning that "people [will actually be] paying a higher proportion of their income as tax" even if they're handed an annual salary rise.
