It was a team effort this week at St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Charleston to prepare for the 59th annual Frankie Veltri free Thanksgiving dinner.
More than 200 volunteers prepared, served and delivered thousands of free meals to those who wanted them.
One couple has been helping for more than 20 years. Dan and Polly Taylor of South Charleston spend most of Wednesday in the kitchen of the downtown church, preparing mashed potatoes and helping any way they could.
"We take care of a lot of people who come through here on Thanksgiving Day," Dan Taylor said. "And I think it will be more this year because of the economy."
Polly Taylor doesn't forget the man who started it all.
"[I'm glad] that we're doing something good," she said, "and honoring Frank Veltri."
