Former Lioness Karen Carney has shared some hard times she went through in the past and said her journey on Strictly Come Dancing has helped rebuild her confidence

Strictly Come Dancing star Karen Carney has revealed she previously battled suicidal thoughts after receiving abuse on social media. The 38-year-old former football player , who is partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu on the BBC show, signed for US football team Chicago Red Stars in 2009 but had to take time off shortly after following a knee operation.

While recovering from her operation, Karen said she became addicted to sleeping pills and began self-harming. "I was in a pretty bad way," she said. "I think that has been the hardest thing I've ever had to overcome." The football star said her coach Emma Hayes
