In Tristan Jarry’s mind, it’s doubtful this qualified as something bigger than two much-needed points.

It’s the way Jarry would prefer to return from injury, sure. But how the Penguins goaltender has performed through eight games this season compared to his previous struggles that made him a target for fan vitriol … yeah, it’s not exactly his style to go there.

We can, though.

It’s a fascinating narrative, isn’t it? The guy sent to the American Hockey League not once but twice last season, the one with that onerous contract or whose presence here was considered more hindrance than help suddenly positioning the Penguins perfectly.

Jarry did that while stopping 29 of 31 shots Wednesday in a 4-2 victory over the Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.
