Father and son Jonjo and AJ O’Neill have not had a winner for 25 days and no runners for the past 14 days during an important part of the campaign

One of Britain’s major jumps yards has ‘pulled the plug’ on running horses after a sequence of frustrating performances. Legendary jockey turned trainer Jonjo O’Neill and son AJ operate from the lavishly appointed JP McManus-owned Jackdaws Castle, in Gloucestershire, which has produced winners of the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

During their first season in tandem they sent out 72 winners and earned more than £1.2 million in prize-money last term but in the first six months of the latest campaign their score is 13. The stable’s only victory in November was 25 days ago and it is more than 14 days since the last runner with no entries
