JACKSON, MI -- Hundreds of runners got up early on Thursday, Nov. 27, to take on Jackson’s Turkey Trot before Thanksgiving celebrations.
This year, the race was hosted at Ella Sharp Park, 2800 Fourth St., on a snowy and cold day.
The race was professionally chip timed with the results available right after the race. Races included a 5K run and walk, a 10K run, a kids fun run and an elite 5K run.
Jackson locals and friends, Dina Peek and Melissa Bartlett are newer to the Turkey Trot.
“We did the Nite Lites (5K) together and just decided to do this one too,” Bartlett said.
One of them has done the race once, and for the other, this was their first time. Both agreed this will be a new tradition for them.
