A North East law firm has chosen it's charity of the year - and it's a pupular choice in Darlington.

Each year, staff at Jacksons, which operates in Teesside and Newcastle, vote for a cause to support through company fundraising events.

This time, Dogs Trust Darlington came out on top, reflecting the region's love for their four-legged friends.

Erica Turner, Jacksons’ head of legal, nominated the charity.

“Seeing the comfort dogs bring to so many people, I was more than happy to put forward Dogs Trust,” she said.

“The charity provides a loving and homely environment for a wide range of dogs while they await their new forever homes - but requires continuous investment."
