The latest blow to the UK high street comes as Santander announces it will be closing four more of its banks this coming December. This will bring the total of Santander stores closed across the UK up 81 this year alone.
Nine branches were shut down in Scotland earlier this year, including Glasgow , Musselburgh, Arbroath and Peterhead. This mass closure of stores throughout 2025 has been put down to a shift in customer behaviours over the years.
It was previously reported that Santander, Lloyds, Halifax and TSB would be shutting a combined 384 branches this year, with Santander pledging to close 77, reports the Express.
