The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch and a hazardous weather outlook on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27, for what it said will be a “ large, regional event .”
Heavy snow is possible and could accumulate between 4 and 7 inches in portions of east-central and southeast South Dakota, northwest and west-central Iowa, and northeast Nebraska, during the watch.
The watch will remain in effect from the afternoon of Nov. 28 through the evening of Nov. 29. Travel could be very difficult at that time, and the hazardous conditions could impact commutes after work on Nov. 28.
