YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Entrance fees at Yosemite National Park and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park are about to increase dramatically for foreign visitors - and the new rules mean American visitors will have to show ID to avoid the charge.

According to the National Park Service, 11 sites across the country will enforce a $100 surcharge for each nonresident entering without a pass - including Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon - starting on Jan. 1.

As part of the changes, the National Park Service also announced that nonresident visitors in parties of three or more can instead purchase a $250 "America the Beautiful" yearly pass, which admits the driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle.
