The most rudimentary statistic in football is proof of the greatness of Jackson High School running back EJ Crowell.
He is really hard to tackle.
In fact, there have been multiple games during his career in which Crowell was tackled on less than half of his carries. Last week’s third-round Class 4A playoff win over W.S. Neal was a perfect example. Crowell scored four touchdowns while carrying the ball 10 times. The previous week against Handley, he scored four touchdowns on 14 attempts. Against Satsuma, he was never tackled, scoring touchdowns on both of his carries for 129 yards. His ratio against Orange Beach was four touchdowns on seven carries.
