DALLAS — Given the violent ICE arrests that have happened across the country and the tense political climate, there was some concern about whether a Dallas tradition would continue.

“We had obviously some of the same concerns that a lot of people did but this is who we are, and this is what we do. We serve refugees and immigrants,” said Dennis Page, Gateway of Grace ministries in Dallas.

Not only did it continue, but this year a record number of refugees RSVP’d to attend – 350 of them from a dozen countries, including: Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Africa, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Cuba, Guatemala and Mexico.

“It feels great, where I come from, it’s not easy to celebrate a Christian celebration," said Ali, 41, from Iran.
