You may be familiar with the works of Thomas Hart Benton, the Neosho, Mo.-born painter and muralist who became part of the Regionalist movement in the 1930s and '40s. The son of a congressman, Benton had a distinctive style of realism -- his elongated figures possess a gestural fluidity and even his landscapes seem to have motion and rhythm.
