BRAINERD — A 66-year-old Brainerd man was arrested Nov. 20 after he allegedly broke into a home in Baxter and consumed the residents’ medication.
Calvin Eugene Thomas was charged with felony theft and felony second-degree burglary.
Thomas made his first appearance in Crow Wing County District Court on Nov. 21 and was denied a public defender. He was released from jail on $0 bail with conditions.
He is due back in Crow Wing County District Court on Jan. 29, 2026.
According to court documents, at 11:26 a.m. on Nov. 20, Baxter officers were dispatched to a home on the 13000 block of Berrywood Drive for a report of a theft. At the home, officers met with two people who stated Thomas entered the home and consumed hydrocodone that had been prescribed for cancer treatment.
