A Fayetteville man is dead and a suspect is in custody after a fatal shooting at a Bragg Boulevard motel early Wednesday evening.
According to a Fayetteville Police Department news release, just after 6 p.m. Chandon Cornelius Taylor, 24, of Fayetteville, allegedly shot Perry Lamont Sykes, 47, at a Motel 6 in the 3700 block of Bragg Boulevard.
After the incident, Taylor attempted to flee the scene on foot. Officers located Taylor nearby, and he was taken into custody without incident, according to the release.
Sykes was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Taylor is being held in the Cumberland County jail without bail on a charge of first-degree murder, the release stated.
