Easton Cowan’s reaction to his game-tying goal Wednesday night in Columbus said it all: It was elation, combined with relief.

Goals have been hard to come by for the Maple Leafs highly touted rookie.

“It felt good to bury it and help my team,” said Cowan.

It was just his second — after a number of frustrating misses — but it couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. The Leafs were on a skid, in desperate need of points, and had just gone down 1-0 late in the third period. Cowan’s one-timer tied it, with William Nylander getting the winner in overtime.
