NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. —
Thanksgiving in Northbridge, Massachusetts marked the end of an era.
Ken LaChappelle, 76, has been a high school football coach for 50 years.
Following Thursday's 48-13 win over Uxbridge High School, LaChappelle retired as the winningest high school football coach in Massachusetts history.
"I knew this was going to be my last year," he said before the game. "What's special here is I got a grandson on that side and a grandson on this side. Win or lose I'm a winner today."
In his illustrious career, "Coach Lash" racked up 411 wins and 11 combined state championships and Super Bowl wins.
"I've had a a lot of feedback because of this year because they have such fond memories of Northbridge football," LaChappelle said.
