GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — This Thanksgiving, Mel Trotter Ministries prepared and served a free Thanksgiving meal, complete with 400 turkeys, to community members in need.
Preparations for the nonprofit's annual free Thanksgiving Day Community Meal began at 5 a.m. at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
Event organizers said 700 volunteers joined together to prepare, set up and serve the meal, which included:
400 Turkeys
2,400 Pounds of potatoes
3,000 Dinner rolls
240 Pounds of stuffing
700 Pounds of green beans
700 Pounds of candied carrots
60 Gallons of gravy
