PEKIN, Ind. —

A man is dead after and another is behind bars after a deadly shooting in southern Indiana.

Around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, Washington County sheriff's deputies received reports of a shooting in the 9000 block of Bush Road in Pekin.

When they arrived, they found 26-year-old Juan Gutierrez with a gunshot wound and unresponsive.

Gutierrez was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Indiana State Police were called to assist with the investigation. During the investigation, ISP detectives identified 22-year-old Philip Hawkins as a suspect.

Hawkins was arrested and charged with reckless homicide.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy has been scheduled.
