MEADOWLANDS, Minn. (Northern News Now) - St. Louis County deputies and Rescue Squad members rescued a 55-year-old man Thursday after his snowmobile became stuck in a swamp approximately five miles northwest of Meadowlands.
Deputies and rescue squad members responded at approximately 12:30 p.m. to the report of the stuck snowmobiler, who had spent the night in a remote cabin after getting stuck Wednesday night.
The man contacted a friend indicating he planned to walk to the road in the morning. When the man did not reach the road in the timeframe indicated, a friend called 911 to report the matter.
The man was located approximately 1.5 to 2 miles from the trailhead where he had started. Other than being wet and cold, the man was in good physical condition.
