The names of 14 young women murdered at Polytechnique Montréal in 1989 will be read aloud at a solemn ceremony in Port Elgin Dec. 6 to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Hosted for 34 years by members of the Canadian Federation of University Women, Southport, the public ceremony is a chance to mourn the loss of the women killed for being women, to remember their too-short lives and reaffirm a commitment to fight hatred, misogyny and intimate partner violence.
