Thanksgiving is a time to focus on blessings, and also a time people extend their blessings to give back to their community, and in 1910, school children of Ludington reached out to neighbors to make their holiday brighter.
The spirit of generosity among youth is truly heartwarming, such as efforts students take part in these days to host food drives for organizations such as the Lakeshore Food Club.
That spirit of giving was alive and well among students since the early days of Ludington, as related in an article from Nov. 30, 1910, as printed in the Ludington Chronicle: ‘Made Homes Happy: Thanksgiving has deeper significance for school children.’
