Motability is launching a new crackdown on drivers who abuse the car scheme for disabled people as part of a wider shake-up of the system .
A new “special investigations unit” will be set up to look into possible misuse of the vehicles that help benefits claimants get around .
It comes as Chancellor Rachel Reeves imposes VAT on the scheme for the first time – a move that is set to push up the cost of the car leases by £400.
