NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. — A pregnant woman was killed in a car accident involving a driver under the influence, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.
Georgia State Patrol troopers responded to Fairview Road near Crestfield Circle in Newton County early Friday morning after receiving reports of a two-vehicle accident.
According to investigations, a black Hyundai Sonata was backing improperly from a private driveway onto Fairview Road.
Troopers say the driver of the Sonata, which carried the pregnant passenger, failed to yield while entering the roadway. A BMW traveling west on Fairview Road struck the Sonata on the passenger side, which left a pregnant passenger deceased and required the driver to be airlifted to Grady Hospital.
