An attack by a group of men at an hotel used to house asylum seekers near Aberdeen has left a man with facial injuries. Emergency services were called to the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Westhill this morning following reports of an assault.

A 26-year-old man was assaulted by a group of men and received facial injuries. The extent of the injuries was not confirmed and it is unknown if he was taken to hospital .

Three men have been arrested in connection with the incident which took place at around 10.45am.

Police have confirmed that a weapon was recovered from the scene and have reassured the public that the incident has been "contained".

Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
