Seth Meyers is making late-night comedy a family affair.
For the Thanksgiving episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers," the comic brought on his three children – Ashe, 9, Axel, 7 and Adelaide, 4 – as his special "celebrity" guests. Meyers, 51, shares the children with wife, Alexi Ashe.
The pre-taped segment was a surprise for the children, who had arrived to shoot photos for the family Christmas card. The kids joked and talked over one another about the costumes they wore for the shoot, inspired by the holiday movie "Elf."
At one point, sharing how they traveled to the NBC studios where the show is shot, Adelaide joked: "The subway smells like diarrhea," which earned a laugh from the rest of the family members.
The segment then moved to a debate over a fight Ashe and Axel had at a Pittsburgh Steelers game, which they jokingly reenacted on Meyers' couch. When asked, Adelaide said Ashe was nicer to her, and that she loved him but not Axel, which prompted laughter from the audience. A rowdy group, the children went on to dance, yell into their mics, and crawl atop Meyers' desk as he closed out the segment.
Meyers kept the familial fun going with a segment alongside brother Josh and parents, Hillary and Larry. For a remix of his classic segment "Ya Burnt," this time entitled "Ya Brined," in honor of the Thanksgiving turkey, the family traded jabs over pop culture topics.
As for the subjects that earned the Meyers' family's ire? People singing in the theaters during screenings of "Wicked: For Good," Daylight Saving Time, and people getting in Larry's way on Black Friday.
