The Ontario government has formally announced the opening of Windsor’s Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub after the hub began providing services in late September.

Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Vijay Thanigasalam made the announcement at a news conference on Friday.

The CEO of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, a co-lead in the project, said the hub includes a total of 23 treatment beds across three locations and eight transitional housing beds – which will expand to a total of 32.

In addition, the hub is funded to provide $803-per-month housing subsidies to around 120 people per year.

Bill Marra greeted the announcement by reading a letter from one of the HART Hub’s clients.
