NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Fire-Rescue are on the scene of an apartment fire on Norview Avenue.
Crews were called to the scene around 3 p.m. Friday, and when they arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from the building. Companies had to cut through the floor so that they could gain more access to the fire.
The fire department said eight apartments have been affected, and the assistance of the Red Cross has been requested, but it is currently unknown exactly how many occupants have been displaced.
The fire department said there are no known injuries at this time.
One man who lives in the apartment complex told 13News Now he was playing video games when he noticed smoke seeping through his vents this afternoon.
"It started to fill the building, with a little bit of smoke," he said.
