SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Amid cost-of-living concerns, Vermonters were out in full force for Black Friday, hunting for deals at South Burlington’s University Mall .

The National Retail Federation forecasts that nearly 187 million people will shop online or in stores between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. That’s an increase of three million from 2024.

With more people doing their shopping online, people we spoke with said they were surprised by how many people were out shopping in person. Many also said deals this year were hit or miss.

“I bought a TV for $180 earlier at Best Buy, so it’s a pretty good deal in my opinion. But I remember 10 years ago my mom and I would stand in line at Walmart at 10 p.m. to get an iPad for $100, so it’s definitely different,” said Sabrina Redzic
