DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The day after Thanksgiving has earned a different name among Quad Cities plumbers: “Brown Friday.”
Plumbers say the day after the holiday is their busiest of the year. With extra guests, heavy bathroom traffic and lots of grease and food scraps hitting kitchen sinks, the calls start rolling in fast. Everything from clogged drains to overworked garbage disposals can bring a home’s holiday weekend to a halt.
Bryan Parks of Northwest Plumbing, Heating & AC said most of these problems start with what people send down the drain.
“It’s a brown Friday. So essentially you have a plethora of guests in your home trying to entertain a lot of cooking going on in the kitchen,” Parks said. “Ultimately we end up having an influx of bathroom usage. Drains don’t always keep up w
