LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A warming trend is underway with southerly winds returning.

After a frigid start Friday morning we warmed up into the low 60s during the afternoon. By late afternoon we had high thin clouds returning and that is a sign of bigger changes on the way for the weekend. Saturday morning will begin rather cool with lows in the 40s except near the coast; but these numbers are about 10 degrees warmer than Friday morning.

Saturday will feature warm and breezy weather pushing highs into the low 70’s. A passing shower can’t be ruled out during the day though the afternoon should be mainly dry before storms move in Saturday night.

With outdoor events going on including Light Up the lake in Lake Charles on Saturday night, the question will be timing of storms. As of right n
