MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead hasn't hosted a Black Friday game since 1994, but on Friday they found a good deal on points in the paint in a 112-63 win over Alaska Fairbanks in nonconference women's basketball at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
The Dragons produced 74 interior points against the winless Nanooks. Abby John scored 22 points and Caylin Kelly added 20 as five Dragons finished in double figures.
Aubrey Morrison added 14 points while Grace Massaquoi had 12 and Terryn Johnson 11 for MSUM. Kelly led the Dragons with eight rebounds and Ashton Safranski dished out 11 assists.
The Dragons (4-1, 1-0 NSIC) dominated the first half with a 56-30 lead before putting up 33 points in the third quarter when they hit 14 of 20 (70%) of their shots. The Dragons made just 3 of 21 shots from 3-p
