Justin Britt has never regretted going for a run, even if there have been plenty of times he hasn’t wanted to lace up his shoes and start.
Well, maybe all but one.
His first run came after his nine-year NFL career abruptly ended in 2022. The former Seahawks offensive lineman stepped away from the NFL due to sudden depression and anxiety.
After the day he left the only sport he had known, Britt was feeling empty and searching for what was next. He found it, as he says, “on accident.”
Britt, searching for an outlet, remembers his wife Alicia, a former cross-country runner, encouraging him to go for a run.
“My first run demolished me,” Britt, 34, said. “I didn’t even make it a full mile before I tapped out.”
After that run in the summer of 2023 he didn’t go on another one for nine month
