The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 6 p.m. on Friday for lake effect snow until 6:45 p.m. for Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia and Ulster counties.
"At 5:46 p.m., a lake effect snow band was along a line extending from near Worcester to near Feura Bush to Middlefield and moving southeast at 10 MPH," says the weather service.
This includes the following highways: Interstate 88 between exits 20 and 24. Interstate 90 between exits 10 and 25. Interstate 87 between exits 20 and 5. Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 8.
Expect lake effect snow in the following locations:
Pittsfield, Nassau, Jefferson, Lenox, Westerlo, Ravena, New Lebanon, Becket, Castleton-On-Hudson, and Middlefield around 5:50 p.m.
Preston-Potter Hollow around 6:05 p.m.
