Established in 2010 as a day for consumers across the nation to patronize locally owned small businesses during the holiday shopping season, Small Business Saturday may no longer carry the status of being novel.
But that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a big deal to some Santa Fe merchants.
Bridget Dixson, president and CEO of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, said she has heard from some local business owners who seem hyper-focused on this year’s celebration.
“We heard about a few businesses whose stance was, they were going to be closed on Black Friday, and they were going to be doing Small Business Saturday instead,” she said. “We literally have seen businesses with signs on the door that say, ‘Join us on Small Business Saturday.’ ”
