The HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter at Leasowe Bay

Three people had to be rescued after getting into trouble in the Irish Sea. Wirral coastguard was alerted to reports of people in difficulty off the coast of Leasowe bay, on the Wirral peninsula, yesterday (Thursday, November 27).

Coastguard Rescue Teams from Wirral and Crosby were tasked to the scene, along with an HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and RNLI lifeboats from Hoylake and New Brighton . The helicopter could be seen hovering over the bay yesterday.

A Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team spokesman said: "Three people were recovered from the water by Coastguard Rescue Officers, who carried out immediate water rescues to bring them onto the rock armour, with assistance from New Brighton RNLI crew members.
