DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Small businesses are gearing up for Small Business Saturday, and they have some help from a non-profit, helping downtown Duluth prosper.

Beth Sundberg has owned a small business in the area for over a decade.

“We did a pop-up shop, and it was kind of fun, so we kept going,” said Sundberg. “And here we are 11 years later.”

She owns Lester River Trading Co. in downtown Duluth, which sells antiques, trinkets, and art supplies from more than 10 local vendors.

Sundberg is anticipating the holiday rush for Small Business Saturday.

The shop will be having an open House paint demo, drawings for 50% off an item, and a cider and coffee bar.

She said while it’s hard for small shops to compete with big boxes, the downtown businesses band together.
