COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - After last year’s devastating Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on Christmas tree farms, many feared a scarcity this holiday season.

Thankfully, this year is shaping up to tell a good story of South Carolina’s resilience and recovery as farmers report a surprising surge in Christmas tree growth.

Bryan Price, the owner of Price’s Christmas tree farm, said this year’s trees are shaping up to be the best he’s seen in the last three years.

“It was like 20 inches of rain in a short period of time, last year was kind of a bad year”, said Price.

Price recalls losing 130 trees last year, thanks to Hurricane Helene and sporadic storms.

“It battered everything down here, I mean, I had trees fall in from woods into my patches and crush trees,” said Price.
