A fire at a rowhome in Philadelphia left a person dead on Friday evening, according to the fire department.

Firefighters were called to a home on the 3200 block of Ridge Avenue in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of Philadelphia around 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 28, officials said.

When the crews got to the scene, they found an intense fire coming from a three-story home that had spread to the home next door, according to officials.

Firefighters said that it took about 45 minutes to place the blaze under control with about 80 first responders at the scene.

One person was killed in the fire, officials said.

The Philadelphia Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
