ARLINGTON – The Prosper Walnut Grove football team did its part to match Argyle blow for blow through the first quarter-and-a-half of Friday’s Class 5A Division II regional semifinal, but a strong end to the half by the Eagles soon left the Wildcats in unwanted territory.
A run of 14 points by the Eagles inside the final two minutes of the second quarter put the Wildcats behind at the half 31-21, and on an afternoon where Argyle’s efficiency was in postseason form, Walnut Grove’s game of catch-up fell short in a 59-42 loss from Choctaw Stadium – closing out the program’s third season at 12-1 overall with a second straight appearance in the regional semis.
