SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -- The 110th Annual Fire & Lights Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony in Sun Prairie will not go on as planned, the city announced Friday.
The event, which was scheduled for Saturday starting at 5 p.m., was cancelled due to expected severe winter weather. The Sun Prairie area is expected to receive over six inches of snow between Friday night and early Sunday.
"Our priority is the safety of participants, spectators, and staff," city spokesperson Ashley Manthei said. "With a Winter Storm Warning in effect and expected snowfall rates during the event window, proceeding would create significant travel and safety risks."
