DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Iowa farmers face an uncertain financial future despite record harvests, with state officials pushing for federal assistance as trade disruptions continue to impact the agricultural economy.
Iowa produced over 500 million bushels of soybeans this year , but tariffs cost farmers their largest buyer: China. President Donald Trump and China have agreed to a new trade deal for next year , but Iowa State University reports that farmers could have already lost $1.5 billion before the deal.
