LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) - Football fans in Lincoln, Nebraska, cheered for a Northwest Iowa boy’s lifesaving efforts at the annual “Heroes Game” football game between Iowa and Nebraska.
On Friday, Nov. 28, 12-year-old Jayce Koob of Orange City was honored as an Iowa Pioneer Hero for his actions in the early morning hours on Monday, Sept. 1.
A fire broke out at a rural home in Granville, Iowa, located in Sioux County.
According to KTIV’s previous coverage, Jayce woke up in the middle of the night to heavy smoke and alarms.
Firefighters say Jayce, who was then 11 years old escaped the house, traveling more than a mile to a neighbor’s home for help with no phone and by himself.
