ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A Pike County Jail employee was charged Wednesday with having a sexual relationship with a detainee.
Pike County Prosecutors charged Rayann L. Prather with two counts of sexual conduct in the course of public duty, a class E felony.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, a correctional officer was reviewing security footage when he saw Prather go into a detainee’s cell, close the door behind her and come out five minutes later. The next day, the same corrections officer saw on surveillance footage that Prather went into the same cell without fully closing the door for four minutes.
Investigators found a prohibited cellphone belonging to the detainee, with which he exchanged text messages with Prather.
