It took just a minute for the Lake Oswego Lakers to make a statement in the Class 6A championship game Friday at Hillsboro Stadium. And once they got the lead, they never let the Central Catholic Rams get their footing.

Lake Oswego won its first state title since 2018 and third overall Friday, routing Central Catholic 35-6 to bounce back from a loss to West Linn in last year’s final.

“This is the dream,” said Lakers quarterback Hudson Kurland, who completed 10 of 14 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown and ran for 79 yards and another score. “I’ve been picturing this moment since I was 4 years old. Ever since we lost last year we’ve been grinding so hard and doing everything in our power to get back to this moment.”
